As a part of the Mount Vernon Cancer Services Review, a series of more than 100 online engagement events have been held with patients, families, support groups and stakeholders between January and December 2021.

These events have identified some key areas of concern for patients and families in the design and location of a new Cancer Centre and how care is delivered.

The next phase of the engagement will be to explore these key areas in depth with groups of interested current and former patients, their carers and families.

To read more about these topics and how you can register for the work groups, see the links on the "Related Projects" area.

There has been some uncertainty about the effect changes in cancer services may have on specific areas within the Mount Vernon catchment. Additional Work Groups will focus on these areas, allowing those living there to find out more about the review and share their experiences to ensure they have an input into the design of future services.

Luton Cancer Outcomes: Work Group

A patient and public group to explore what the challenges and issues are in relation to cancer treatment for people living in and around Luton.

As we have been working on the Mount Vernon Cancer review, we have been looking at population health for the areas the services cover. This has shown that cancer outcomes in the Luton area are particularly poor. The online engagement events we have held with patients, families, support groups and stakeholders have not been able to look into this in significant detail and so we are setting up a special patient and public group to identify what the issues may be, and to guide a more in depth piece of work with local communities.
