The introduction event is for people who have not previously attended a session on the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Review. It will include information about the challenges facing Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and the reasons why changes are needed, the work that is taking place with staff, patients and others to develop plans for the future of the services, the likely proposals and next steps. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and share your experiences of the services to help inform the development of plans.

The update event is for people who have already been to a session about the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Review. It will not cover the background, reasons why things need to change or what we have done so far. It will provide the most up to date information on where plans have got to, and give you an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

You can reserve a place by following this link to the booking website (external site)

The Mount Vernon Review engagement team are also available to attend meetings and events organised by support groups, charities and patient groups to update interested stakeholders, and to gather your views and opinions to feed into the engagement process.

Following consideration of Government and NHS advice, and listening to the concerns of cancer patients, we have made the decision not to resume face to face engagement events at this stage. We will keep this decision under review but for the time being, all of our engagement activity will take place remotely, with most taking place online. If you would like to be involved but are unable to participate online, or prefer not to, please contact us by phone, email or post and we will make appropriate arrangements.

    My journey

by Sharon, about 3 years ago
I attended Mount Vernon for 18 sessions of radiotherapy following an operation to remove cancer and subsequent chemo at the Lister hospital.

Sure, the place looks old and scary almost, but once inside the care, compassion, organisation and communication was second to none. My journey went smoothly and I just wish some of the other more local hospitals were as efficient.

I don't think anything needs changing at Mount Vernon at all,
