My Story and the Help support provided by NHS

My story begins in April 2021. I retired in March 2021, had not been to see my GP or have any medical issues for many years. I was therefore shocked and panicked when I found a lump in my left breast. I contacted my GP Practice and was seen by a locum GP who referred me to my local Northwick Park Hospital. Within two weeks I was seen by a Surgical consultant within two weeks was sent for biopsy and results were shared confirming that the lump was cancerous. I was referred to an Oncologist very fast and was seen and a treatment plan was agreed and treatment was started very quickly.

I was very fortunate for the prompt action taken by the Oncologist and the Chemo team,
who looked after me during my treatment, and they were absolutely amazing. They were so sympathetic, caring and understood the fears not only with regard to the cancer diagnosis but also Covid.
my treatment is ongoing and the help and support provided to me by My Surgeon, Oncologist and the whole team continues with the same efficiency, caring support. I am now having Radio Therapy treatments at Mount Vernon. The team are just as amazing. I thank my lucky stars each day for the NHS for the care I have received. I could not have had better care or expected anything more.
